Dynamic Thermal Modeling Simulation
The TermoDeck service also includes bespoke dynamic thermal modeling during the design phase using the powerful IDA Indoor Climate and Energy (IDA ICE) provided by Equa Solutions.
IDA ICE is an innovative and trusted whole-year detailed and dynamic multi-zone simulation application for the study of thermal indoor climate as well as the energy consumption of the entire building. The physical models of IDA ICE reflect the latest research and best models available, and the computed results compare well with measured data.

TermoDeck engineers utilise the software to accurately model your building, its systems, and controllers. Initial models can establish the feasibility of using TermoDeck providing the design team with an indication of comfort, plant sizing and energy consumption. The software can also used as a tool to determine the optimum building solution helping to assess and make recommendations for the building envelope, the effectiveness of solar shading and the benefits for various mechanical plant options.
During the detailed design stage, the thermal model is refined to establish the air volume flow rates for the various parts of the building to enable accurate sizing of the ventilation plant, ductwork and associated components – ensuring the lowest possible energy consumption and the best possible occupant comfort.
Every underlying equation can be browsed, and every variable can be logged. For a single zone, this means that about a thousand temperatures, heat fluxes, CO2-levels, control signals and other variables can be inspected by the design team.
TermoDeck can model your building using synthetic weather data or the latest CIBSE Weather Files to engineer the building design to meet with the Clients design brief and specifications. Annual maximum and minimum temperature prediction, together with design temperature exceedence data with 3D graphical output provides an accurate prediction of the buildings comfort throughout the seasons to help install confidence throughout the design team.
