Objective: Design and manufacture of 4.2m and 5.2m id shaft linings and cover slabs to address a range of specific requirements including groundwater and uplift problems

Our solution: New 4.2m id and 5.2m id shaft linings were designed which were of greater than normal thickness and which incorporated dowels and recesses to tie the lining to the lower slab and the upper ring beam to maximise resistance to uplift. We designed and manufactured the cover slabs for the numerous shafts which were further complicated by the number and orientation of the openings in the slabs. All the segments were factory fitted with EPDM gaskets to ensure watertight construction.
